Featured Mum: Remy Baghdady

Remy Baghdady has the kind of energy that would motivate anyone to get up and go, plus she’s a total multi-tasker career-wise. Remy balances being a physical therapist, alternative medicine practitioner, influencer, athlete, and brand ambassador all with her role as a spa director and health club manager. And, that’s while caring for her young son Mathew who was born last October! We spoke to Remy about what inspires her to keep challenging herself, and what it’s been like pursuing her passions as a new mum.

Is it tough being a working mum?

Yes, it is emotional and it was hard to think about leaving my little warrior for several hours during the day. But at the same time, I absolutely love what I do. Working in the spa means running a whole world of beauty and wellness, advising on everything from makeup and health to wellbeing and sports.

What led you to become an influencer?

It was really because of how much I enjoy interacting with people and I hoped to inspire others by sharing my own experiences. It’s very satisfying and great fun. My approach is very much about keeping things simple so the results are achievable.

How did you keep active during pregnancy?

The day I found out that I was pregnant, I was running an obstacle race and I continued to work out doing cardio and weight lifting four to five days a week. I did a lot of research to make sure that everything was safe and also so that I understood the most beneficial things to eat for my little one. I knew that staying active was important for me and nothing was going to hurt my baby. Since having Mathew, I am continuing to focus on being the best I can be every time.

What advice would you give new mums who are struggling with body confidence?

Be yourself. It takes courage to grow up and be who you were meant to be; this uniqueness is your power. Individuality is your strength. The human body is an amazing machine and never forget that we have made a miracle inside our womb.

What has been your favourite bit of motherhood so far?

So much of it! Especially now Mathew recognises and responds to me. Of course, life has changed a lot and looking after a baby is a full-time job in itself. I find out as much information as I can to give him the best possible start.

How did you first hear about banking stem cells?

I came across it in my own research. My husband Joseph has ulcerative colitis and with all the advances in stem cell treatments, I strongly believe that my little bundle of joy will save his dad one day.

Would you recommend stem cell storage to others?

Absolutely. It is the best investment you can make and has the potential to come to the rescue for your family in the future.
